    Confirm pupils, the room and access arrangements. Prepare devices or print the authorised materials, and complete the Teacher System Check for an online sitting.

    Teacher and pupils

    Get the right access

    The teacher provides the school-issued details for an online sitting, or the printed papers and answer sheets. Pupils keep their access details private.

    A Student Account is optional and separate from access to the live Challenge.

    Each pupil

    Begin the Challenge

    Follow the supervising teacher’s instructions. The normal sitting is 30 minutes, subject to authorised access arrangements. Primary has 50 questions; Junior, Intermediate and Senior have 100.

    Supervising teacher

    Keep the sitting fair

    Pupils answer independently. Staff can explain procedure, but cannot interpret or answer a question. Record interruptions or other incidents through the appropriate school process and Challenge workspace.

    Complete and submit

    Online pupils follow the submission flow. For paper participation, the school collects answer sheets and follows the current return instructions. Keep Challenge material confidential for the period set out in the Rules.

Recognise individual achievement.

    School and pupil

    Receive results privately

    Results are normally released within four days, subject to marking and review. The school receives its pupils’ released results. A teacher can provide a pupil’s result without a Student Account.

    Celebrate and look ahead

    Schools share available certificates and awards with pupils. An optional Student Account can show a pupil’s own linked, released records; there is no public results list.
