Your information in the BMSAQ Challenge

Your information in the BMSAQ Challenge

We are BM Schools Academic Quiz. Ben runs the competition. You can ask us about your information at info@bmsaq.com, or ask your teacher or a trusted adult to help.

We use your BMSAQ competition ID, answers and result to run the Challenge, mark it fairly and give you your result or certificate. If your school sends a paper answer sheet, it may show your name as well as your ID. Your school can usually keep the list linking IDs to names, so please do not add personal details we do not need.

Your teacher or school organiser sees the relevant school results. We use protected computer services to deliver the Challenge and keep records. Paper sheets may be marked/captured using ZipGrade. You use BMSAQ’s own system to access your Challenge/results; ZipGrade is not our current pupil login platform. We do not make a pupil marketing list, and Benji is an adult organiser tool rather than a pupil tool.

You do not need a personal account to take part. If you choose an optional results account, you can use a username instead of your name, without an email. The approval needed depends on the account route. Where parental authorisation is required, your school cannot automatically give it instead. Ask your teacher or Ben before creating an account if the approval route is unclear. Choose a username that does not reveal your full name or school, and keep your password and access code private. Your account only gives access to results you are allowed to see when they are released.

We normally keep detailed answers and scans for 12 months after final results. We keep a small official score/certificate record for six years, or linked minimal results while your optional account stays active. Our retention policy provides for closing an account after five years without login or a new linked Challenge. You can ask us what we hold, ask us to correct a mistake or ask us to delete information. Sometimes we need to keep a limited record; we will tell you why.

Tell your teacher or Ben if someone sees your records who should not, if a result seems wrong, or if you are worried about your information. You can complain without losing your right to take part. The full privacy notice gives more detail, including computer suppliers and international processing.
