Understanding eligibility

“And below” is an upper limit.

A pupil at or below the stated school year is eligible for that Challenge, subject to the current Rules. There is no lower age limit for pupils in school education.

One starting point, not the only possibility

The helper recommends the first Challenge whose upper limit includes the selected year. Younger eligible pupils may also enter a later Challenge.

A pupil may enter more than one Challenge if eligible. Higher-education students may not enter.

Questions around the boundaries

What if the year names at our school are different?

Contact BMSAQ with the school’s country and year or class name. Do not assume that similarly numbered years in different systems are equivalent.

What about younger pupils?

The current Rules set no lower age limit for pupils in school education. The school should consider the Challenge style and confirm the appropriate entry. Contact BMSAQ if the helper does not list the pupil’s school stage.

Can home-schooled or private candidates enter?

Participation is normally arranged and supervised by a school. Contact BMSAQ to ask about the route available for a home-schooled or private candidate.

Does choosing a category create an entry?

No. The school organiser chooses and orders the pupil’s entry through the Organiser Portal.
