BMSAQ information for your Head Teacher or Principal
Dear Head Teacher or Principal,
A member of staff at your school is interested in entering pupils in the BM Schools Academic Quiz (BMSAQ). This letter provides a concise overview of the Challenge and the practical arrangements for participating.
- Individual participation
- BMSAQ is an individual academic Challenge. Pupils participate through their school, with no fixed school team size. Schools choose how many eligible pupils to enter.
- School-based delivery
- The Challenge is normally run at school under teacher supervision, online or on paper where supported. There is no normal central travel requirement and no teacher marking of Challenge answers.
- The Challenge
- Questions span Our World & Lifestyle, Science & Nature, History & Politics, Culture and General Knowledge. Primary has 50 multiple-choice questions; Junior, Intermediate and Senior have 100. The usual duration is 30 minutes, with authorised accessibility arrangements where applicable.
- Practical arrangements
- A School Organiser manages entries and completes readiness before Challenge Day. The school arranges supervision, a suitable room and the devices or paper materials required by its chosen format, following the current instructions.
- Entries and results
- School registration is free. Schools then order pupil entries at the current price for their market. Every pupil receives an individual result, released privately through the school. Certificates and awards follow the current Challenge rules.
Taking part
Please nominate or confirm a School Organiser, review the appropriate Challenge and current pricing, then register the school if needed. The Organiser can order pupil entries and complete readiness before Challenge Day.
If your school already uses BMSAQ, ask the existing School Organiser about joining or use the school-access route in the Organiser Portal rather than registering the school again.
