Who can join?
The BM Schools Academic Quiz is open to all secondary schools across the United Kingdom.
The BMSAQ is open to any UK or Ireland secondary school. The competition is divided into three age categories:
Junior Challenge:
England & Wales: Year 8 and below
Scotland: S1 and below
Northern Ireland: Year 9 and below
Rep. Ireland: 1st Year and below
Intermediate Challenge:
England & Wales: Year 11 and below
Scotland: S4 and below
Northern Ireland: Year 12 and below
Rep. Ireland: 4th (Transition) Year and below
Senior Challenge:
England & Wales: Year 13 and below
Scotland: S6 and below
Northern Ireland: Year 14 and below
Rep. Ireland: 6th Year and below
Students must sit the Challenge in a registered school, under NO circumstances may a student sit the Challenge at home. Private or home-schooled candidates should contact BMSAQ if they wish to compete.
Access Arrangements:
The following arrangements may be provided to a candidate at the time of his/her examinations without prior approval:
25% extra time (for candidates who are normally entitled to extra time in school )
amplification equipment;
braillers;
closed circuit television (CCTV);
coloured overlays;
low vision aid/magnifier;
optical character reader (OCR) scanners.
Each Challenge is available in a paper and online format. If a candidate requires enlarged text or an alternative format of Challenge please contact BMSAQ.
Other access arrangements (including scribes and prompters) must be approved by BMSAQ at least 2 weeks before the Challenge date.. Please contact BMSAQ via email to enquire.
